Making a Difference in Our Community and Planet
At Moonlight Pizza, we're not just about crafting delicious meals; we're about making a meaningful impact. Here's how we're contributing to our community and taking steps to protect our planet:
Community First: Giving Back to Salida
Every select Monday, we're proud to donate 10% of our sales to local initiatives that make Salida extraordinary. From supporting school groups and mentorship programs to enhancing environmental sustainability and promoting community health, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us. It's not just the right thing to do; it's part of who we are.
Sustainability in Our Ingredients
We're passionate about dough β it's the foundation of what we do. But not just any dough. Our pizza crusts and sandwich bread are crafted fresh daily, never frozen or shipped from afar. We take pride in using fresh, quality ingredients, and if you're curious about who made your dough today, they're likely just in the kitchen.
Reducing Our Environmental Impact
Why No Straws? Each straw might only be used for a few minutes, but its impact on the environment lasts much longer. Our goal is to minimize our non-recyclable waste and keep plastics out of our oceans. Beverages are served in glass to reduce plastic pollution, though straws are available upon request.
What About Coasters? Our decision to skip coasters is a small but meaningful step toward reducing waste. We believe in making conservation efforts wherever possible, even if it means our tables go without fancy coasters.
Edible Six-Pack Rings: In an effort to protect marine life from the dangers of plastic waste, we've adopted the use of 100% biodegradable wheat and barley six-pack rings. These edible rings, developed by Saltwater Brewery and We Believers, are a creative solution that feeds, rather than harms, marine animals. By using these for our six packs, we join a movement towards a more sustainable and animal-friendly industry.
Local Composting Partnership: Our partnership with Elements Composting in Salida exemplifies our commitment to reducing waste and supporting local agriculture. We donate our appropriate unused food to EMC, contributing to the production of high-quality compost that benefits gardeners and farmers in Chaffee County. This initiative not only helps us minimize waste but also supports the growth of local produce.
Join Us in Making a Difference We invite you to relax, enjoy another beer, and savor the sunset at Moonlight Pizza. And remember, taking care of our planet and community makes every slice taste that much better.
