Colorado Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Association (COTBDAA)

Colorado Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Association (COTBDAA) is doing critical work to keep our community informed and protected. We're proud to support them through Moonlight Mondays.

WHO THEY ARE

COTBDAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2016 and dedicated to elevating awareness of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases for Coloradans and beyond through education, prevention, research, advocacy, and patient support. As ticks and the pathogens they transmit continue to increase locally, nationally, and globally, the risks to our community's health grow. COTBDAA provides education and awareness to prevent tick bites and exposure to serious and too often life-altering tick-borne diseases.

WHAT THEY’RE UP TO

COTBDAA helps connect patients with the resources they need for diagnosis, testing, access to care, and support. They also provide medical care providers with resources to access further education opportunities. They work in partnership with Chaffee County Public Health to expand their reach throughout the community and healthcare system.

WHERE YOUR MOONLIGHT MONDAY DONATION GOES

Funds raised during their Moonlight Monday will be used to continue their work in providing resources and educational materials for tick-borne disease prevention. Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub is proud to support this initiative, helping to spread awareness and make Colorado a safer place.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR COTBDAA

COTBDAA is always looking for ways to expand their prevention efforts. One of their goals is to create Spanish-language versions of all their printable education materials, making their resources more accessible to a wider audience.

A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US

Recognition of the signs and symptoms of tick-borne relapsing fever allowed a mother in our local community to get the urgent care her daughter needed for this potentially life-altering disease—and the outcome was positive. Without this early intervention, the infection could have changed her daughter's life. That's the kind of impact education and awareness can have.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

COTBDAA has volunteer opportunities in advocacy and education work. If your business, program, school, or festival would like educational materials or a presentation, reach out. Like and follow them on social media to share their education and prevention posts and help spread awareness. You can also support COTBDAA activities through donation.
