Central Colorado Conservancy
Central Colorado Conservancy is protecting the lands and waters that make this place what it is. We're proud to support them through Moonlight Mondays.
WHO THEY ARE
Central Colorado Conservancy protects the lands, waters, and quality of life of Central Colorado as our communities face pressure and rapid growth. They forever protect open tracts of land through conservation easements, steward their nearly 7,000 acres of currently conserved properties, partner with local ranchers on innovative programs that help to keep working lands working, restore and protect our region's vital watersheds, and educate our communities on the importance of conservation.
WHAT THEY’RE UP TO
Central Colorado Conservancy works to protect the lands and waters that sustain us here in Central Colorado. They monitor their conserved properties annually, creating and maintaining working relationships with landowners and getting to know their needs and wants for these protected lands. They recently conducted land health assessment surveys on all of the conservation easements they steward and are now developing plans for a variety of projects, including stream restoration, forest health improvement projects, climate resiliency initiatives, and more.
WHERE YOUR MOONLIGHT MONDAY DONATION GOES
Your Moonlight Monday donation goes toward land protection and stewardship efforts in Chaffee County.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CENTRAL COLORADO CONSERVANCY?
Central Colorado Conservancy is currently working on four new conservation easement projects. Once protected, these easements will forever protect more than 1,200 acres. These easements protect a variety of landscapes—from montane grasslands that provide critical wintering habitat for ungulates to major migration corridors and vital riparian habitat to important viewsheds and open spaces in and near our communities.
A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US
Since 2001, the Conservancy has forever protected nearly 7,000 acres across Central Colorado. These conserved properties protect the sweeping vistas, agricultural lands, and critical wildlife habitat that makes our region so special. It's the kind of work that doesn't always make headlines, but it shapes the Central Colorado we all know and love.
