CENTRAL COLORADO MOUNTAIN RIDERS
Central Colorado Mountain Riders (CCMR) is an all-volunteer group doing the behind-the-scenes work that keeps our trails accessible and safe. We're proud to support them through Moonlight Mondays.
WHO THEY ARE
Central Colorado Mountain Riders is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that preserves, maintains, and creates motorized trail opportunities in Central Colorado through cooperation, education, etiquette, and stewardship. Through hands-on trail work, erosion control, and infrastructure improvements, they help protect public lands while keeping trails safe, accessible, and enjoyable.
WHAT THEYβRE UP TO
CCMR's impact goes beyond motorcycles. They actively collaborate with the mountain bike and hiking community, land managers, and other trail organizations to support shared-use trails and reduce user conflict. By working together, they promote responsible recreation, mutual respect, and long-term access for everyone who loves these trails. Volunteer workdays bring together riders, bikers, hikers, families, and local partnersβstrengthening community connections while supporting local economies that rely on outdoor recreation.
WHERE THE MOONLIGHT GIVES FUNDS GO
Your Moonlight Monday donation helps CCMR purchase trail-building materials like lumber, hardware, rock, and erosion-control supplies. It also supports equipment needs including tools, fuel, safety gear, and maintenance of trail-building machinery.
WHATβS NEXT FOR THE CCMR?
CCMR is maintaining nearly 89 miles of adopted trails in the community. Volunteers survey these trails every spring to clear them of downfall and to identify and map sections for follow-up repair or maintenance. The trails include the motorized Continental Divide Trail from Old Monarch Pass to Highway 50, Rainbow Trail from Silver Creek to Oak Creek (all 56 miles in the Salida Ranger District), Poplar Gulch, Sundgren Sunset Loop, Greens Creek Trail, and the DudBob Trail.
CCMR continually works with land managers to plan, develop, and add new multi-use trails that serve the entire community. Through collaboration with public agencies and partner organizations, they help expand sustainable trail access for motorized users, mountain bikers, hikers, and other trail enthusiasts while protecting natural resources and supporting long-term land management goals.
A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US
Every project CCMR completes helps keep trails open, sustainable, and welcoming for current users and future generations. It's the kind of work that doesn't always get attention, but it makes all the difference when you're out there.
