RAMPS AND ALLEYS CLUBHOUSE

Ramps and Alleys Clubhouse is one of those places that just makes sense for Salidaโ€”a free, safe space where kids can hang out, skate, and be themselves. We're proud to support them through Moonlight Mondays.

WHO THEY ARE

Ramps and Alleys Clubhouse provides educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities while promoting healthy lifestyles and building positive relationships. It's a safe, fun hangout for the youth of Chaffee Countyโ€”free or donation-based, where kids can come and go on their own schedule. They partner with other local nonprofits to create organized programming, from art and crafts to teen nights and skate events.

WHAT THEYโ€™RE UP TO

Ramps and Alleys has helped kids and adults discover what life on wheels can do for your mental and physical health. Roller skating and skateboarding can be transformativeโ€”boosting self-esteem, building friendships, and creating positive change in individuals' and families' lives. They've also helped create the junior roller derby program, which has become a huge part of the youth sports community here.

WHERE THE MOONLIGHT GIVES FUNDS GO

Your Moonlight Monday donation goes directly to the Izan Wheeler Youth Sports Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the Ark Valley High Rollers and Ramps and Alleys Clubhouse to honor Izan, who passed away in December 2023 at the age of nineteen.

Izan was a talented athlete who spent a lot of time at the skatepark on his scooter and BMX. When he wasn't skating, you could find him at Ramps and Alleys, Fun Street Family Arcade, Salida Bike Company, or swimming in the river. He loved teaching other kids to skate, scoot, and ride BMXโ€”and he'd pass down his gear to kids who needed it. It wasn't uncommon for a kid to roll by and say, "Look at this neat scooter Izan gave me."

This scholarship provides financial assistance to participants in youth sports between the ages of 12-18. That includes any sportโ€”organized leagues or personal development in skateboarding, biking, rock climbing, kayaking, skiing, you name it. All levels and abilities are encouraged to apply.

WHATโ€™S NEXT FOR RAMPS AND ALLEYS CLUBHOUSE?

Ramps and Alleys is working toward hiring a clubhouse manager who can increase programming opportunities, boost marketing, and write grants. They feel like having this support can take everything they offer to the next level and help them use the space and resources to their fullest potential.

A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US

The smiles alone are priceless. Ramps and Alleys has countless stories about how discovering skating and rolling has helped create positive change in people's livesโ€”kids finding confidence, families connecting, friendships forming. It's the kind of thing that's hard to put into words, but you see it the second you walk in.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Ramps and Alleys is always looking for volunteers to help with fundraisers and events. You can also donate toward operating costs, equipment, and scholarship funds. Stop by the club in person or reach out via email.
