ARK VALLEY VOICE - TRUTH HAS A VOICE
Ark Valley Voice is more than just a news outlet — it’s a trusted source of objective, fact-based journalism that keeps Chaffee County and the Upper Arkansas Valley informed, engaged, and connected. Since becoming a nonprofit in 2022, Ark Valley Voice has been committed to giving truth a voice and making sure local issues are front and center.
WHO THEY ARE
Ark Valley Voice is an accredited member of the Colorado Press Association and the Colorado News Collaborative, publishing a daily digital news digest six days a week at no cost to readers. From breaking news to in-depth features, their team ensures that residents have access to the information they need to make decisions, participate in civic life, and stay rooted in their community.
WHAT THEY’RE UP TO
The newsroom is busy covering the stories that matter most — everything from local festivals like FIBArk to critical countywide issues such as housing, growth, and public policy. They also host candidate forums, train interns, and provide a platform for civil discourse and accountability in government.
WHERE THE MOONLIGHT GIVES FUNDS GO
Funds raised through Moonlight Monday will go directly to supporting Ark Valley Voice’s newsroom and working journalists. This means more coverage of local events, deeper investigations into community issues, and continued free access to reliable news for everyone.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR ARK VALLEY VOICE?
As the 2025 election season approaches, Ark Valley Voice is gearing up to expand coverage of local races, including school boards, Salida city council, and the mayor’s office. They’re also working on ways to improve their website and make it an even stronger resource for readers.
A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US
Earlier this year, Ark Valley Voice launched a community issues survey that asked residents what mattered most to them. The results shaped coverage of key stories, from federal programs to local priorities, proving that community-driven journalism can amplify the voices of everyday people.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT ARK VALLEY VOICE
As a small nonprofit newsroom, Ark Valley Voice relies on community support. Volunteers are needed to help with event planning, fundraising efforts, and civic education programs. Donations also go a long way toward sustaining independent, local journalism.
