SALIDA MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC

This week, we’re turning up the volume for our featured nonprofit: Salida Middle School Musicβ€”a dynamic, inclusive program that brings the joy of music to students across all grades. Whether they’re playing an instrument, singing on stage, or performing in a full-blown musical, these kids are creating something specialβ€”and we’re proud to support them.

WHO THEY ARE

The Salida Middle School Music program offers something for every aspiring performer, including bands for every grade level, a jazz band, two musicals each year, choirs for multiple grade levels, and even participation in the Salida High School Marching Band. It’s a robust, enriching program that makes space for students to learn, grow, and shine through music.

WHAT THEY’RE UP TO

The SMS Music team is passionate about making musical education accessible to any student who wants to participate. Whether it’s a beginner learning their first instrument or a confident vocalist stepping into the spotlight, this program nurtures both skill and self-expression.

WHERE THE MOONLIGHT GIVES FUNDS GO

Funds raised through Moonlight Monday will go directly toward:

  • Providing instruments and repairs

  • Purchasing rights for upcoming musicals

  • Supporting student travel to All State Choir and the Music in the Parks festival at Elitch Gardens

Your dinner and drinks help fund experiences that last a lifetimeβ€”both on and off the stage.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SALIDA MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC?

Looking ahead, the program hopes to:

  • Update their school-owned instrument inventory

  • Continue producing musicals for the 2024–25 school year

  • Support students representing SMS at Colorado All State Choir

  • Fund another unforgettable trip to Elitch Gardens

Every dollar raised helps keep these opportunities aliveβ€”and accessible to all students.

A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US

Every year, 7th and 8th grade choir and band students get the chance to participate in the Music in the Parks Festival in Denver. They perform in front of professional judges, receive detailed feedback, and then spend the day at Elitch Gardens. It’s an unforgettable experienceβ€”equal parts educational and exhilaratingβ€”and it’s made possible by community support.

Donations have also helped SMS build a thriving musical theatre program. Students from 5th through 8th grade have taken the stage in productions like Jungle Book Kids, Willy Wonka JR, 101 Dalmatians Kids, and Frozen JR.β€”building confidence, teamwork, and lifelong memories along the way.
