LONGFELLOW PARENTS ASSOCIAITON

This spotlight is all about the heart of Longfellow Elementary: the caregivers, staff, and volunteers who make up the Longfellow Parents Association (LPA). These are the people behind the scenes working to create a stronger, more connected school community—and we’re thrilled to support them.

WHO THEY ARE

The Longfellow Parents Association connects caregivers, students, and staff to create a vibrant, inclusive school community. From hosting events to fundraising for special projects, their mission is to ensure every child at Longfellow has the opportunity to learn and thrive in an exceptional environment.

WHAT THEY’RE UP TO

LPA plays a major role in shaping the day-to-day experience at Longfellow Elementary. Their team organizes family-friendly events, funds classroom enhancements, and provides teacher grants that directly support learning. Everything they do centers on strengthening the bond between students, educators, and families.

WHERE THE MOONLIGHT GIVES FUNDS GO

Funds raised through Moonlight Monday help power all of LPA’s initiatives—from teacher grants and special school projects, to community-building events and classroom support. Your dinner and drinks help buy real things that make a real difference in the lives of students and staff.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR LPA?

Looking ahead, LPA plans to expand their support by introducing guest speakers for caregivers, hosting school-wide enrichment assemblies, and bringing in guest authors to inspire young readers. They’re also committed to continuing their vital support of Longfellow’s amazing staff and educators.

A STORY THAT STUCK WITH US

One of LPA’s proudest accomplishments is their annual “Big Ticket Item” initiative. Working with the school principal, they identify major needs that fall outside the standard budget—like new furniture, playground upgrades, and essential supplies—and then raise the money to make it happen.

But it’s not just about money. LPA also nurtures a true sense of community by hosting appreciation events for teachers, creating a volunteer network of caregivers, and offering families a welcoming space to get involved and connect.
